Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hard courts

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his maiden title for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid period, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in specific - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now training with Johansson and his other coach, he has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Moutet.

It is his maiden title after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface from that period of 2023.

Victory also means the Russian has secured twenty-one titles at 21 different tournaments.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters together, so to get a trophy is particularly special," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his last six title deciders, including in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and recurring outbursts on court had caused some to question if his ability to play at the elite level was over.

However the player has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and play positively, supported by an better serving game.

He came back from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Moutet, securing four of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped breaks in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his initial professional championship, seized the initiative to force a final set.

He rescued 4 early-game chances in a close third set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured the win with a shot at the net, with his opponent failing to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
