Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a significant and ongoing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone close to the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any damage is uncertain and the United States has yet to issue a statement.

Regional Interceptions

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - said they have shot down incoming projectiles in their air space.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

IRGC Statement

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That initial attack - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted sites associated with the the regime, with President Trump calling on the Iranian people to revolt against the leadership.

Regional Fallout

In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces said it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses engaged the missiles with great effectiveness and shot down a number of missiles," it added.

Officials reported missile fragments landed in a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
