Canada's Blue Jays Earn Fall Classic Matchup Versus the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer previously helped the Astros claiming the championship in 2017.

Toronto's Blue Jays reached their initial World Series following 1993 by overcoming the Mariners in the decisive seventh game of the American League Championship Series.

Behind by two runs, Springer delivered a three-run blast in the seventh inning, leading the Toronto squad in the majors to a four games to three triumph in the series. Next up are the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team that is the defending champions, in the anticipated Fall Classic.

"I'm thrilled for this squad, Toronto, Canada," commented Springer, a star of the Astros team that secured the 2017 World Series. "It's truly an amazing experience."

The veteran has now hit 23 playoff homers, making him third on the list behind Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"It's hard to imagine another player in the world that I'd prefer in that situation besides George Springer with his playoff prowess," remarked Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

Seattle's team, who had led the series 2-0 and 3-2, continue to be the sole team never to appear in a World Series.

Wilson said "without a doubt that it hurts" following his team's loss at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but commended their work this season.

"It's a special team. Unfortunately that we ended up on the losing end of this game," he continued.

The Blue Jays claimed the World Series on both previous visits in 1992 and '93, and are set to host the Dodgers in the opener on this Friday.
